Hi I'm Eve McGowan and I'm 47 years old. I grew up in Ireland and moved to the Netherlands in the 90's. After 13 years of working at a job in an office that didn't make me very happy, I decided at the age of 40 to take a big step and look for work that would give me more satisfaction. In my search, I stumbled across a workshop for Indian head massage in 2016. Later that year I followed a Shiatsu chair massage course at Massage en Bewustzijn in Zoetermeer. Chair massage caught my interest because it is so accessible: you can just keep your clothes on, making it possible at any time of the day and in any place.
For example at a food truck festival! I traveled for 2 seasons with Toost Foodtruck Festival, to provide the visitors with some extra relaxation. Every weekend in a different city – a super fun experience and a great practice ground!
Having caught the massage bug, I expanded my knowledge of chair massage with the Chinese Chair Massage course at Bo Yi Training and the Professional Chair Massage course at Esoterra. I can now say that I have an extensive “toolbox” which I regularly use for the employees of various companies that I visit every month.
And not only that, I am also specialized in various table massages in addition to the chair massage
I followed the classic Swedish massage training and the fantastic Hammam massage treatment at IMAS training. The Hammam is a real treat – well known from the sauna, but in this version adjusted to be carried out in a “dry” room. Scrub, foam massage, clay packing and warm oil massage are all included.
As I am not one to rest on my laurels and because of the space that arose in corona time, I started the 2-year Lomi Lomi practitioner training, Hawaiian Temple Bodywork, at Malamalomi in Amsterdam in 2021. And once there, everything fell into place! This training is so much more than just massage.
The combination of energy work, movement, music and massage make Abraham Kawai'i's Hawaiian Temple bodywork very powerful and heartwarming. Everything comes together in a transformation and healing ritual that can touch people deep into their souls.
Massage is my passion and my life's work. It is fantastic to see the change in people from before and after the massage. And I am honored that I can lend a hand in this to help people get out of their heads and into their bodies in order to relax more.
Besides massage I also have another passion, that I’d like to share with you. And that is the love of music. Music is always in the background of my massages, but I really prefer to play the instruments myself and accompany them with my voice. This I can bring to expression and share with others in my monthly mantra evening at Eigen Wij in Zoetermeer, and I am also often the co-creator of yoga workshops and cacao ceremonies (with harmonium, guitar, voice, ukulele, piano).
